We were appointed to lead the design and manage the construction of a new shopping centre development in Mortdale, Sydney. The 11,000m2 development includes three levels of retail space, plus multi-level basement and rooftop car parking with access into the plaza.

The client’s vision was for a sensitively integrated yet commanding building, connected to community – from outside-in and inside-out. At the core of the plaza is a soaring atrium, with inset café, and glass louvres to maximise air flow. The internal structures are wrapped in glazing to bring abundant natural light in, while providing views out to the neighbouring golf course.

One of many engineering challenges was the design of service access, including a loading dock for Woolworths and separate heavy vehicular access ramps for other anchor tenants, including BSW and Crunch Fitness.
