This retail shopping strip was long overdue for refurbishment. We reimagined the tired ‘corner store’ and designed an elegant retail precinct for the residents of San Souci and surrounding suburbs.

Our greatest challenge was minimising disruption to the operations of existing on-site tenants. Taking a collaborative approach, we devised a schedule of work that allowed tenants to move into new premises without any downtime. This freed up the rest of the building, which we converted into a highly desirable commercial asset. Key drivers included maximising street frontage opportunities and Environmentally Sustainable Design principles such as orientation and ventilation. For the interior, we worked with designer Stacey Kouros, who’s preference for light hues and minimalist lines helped to create a contemporary yet inviting space.

With twice as many tenants, the increase in rent and sales offset the cost of the renovation: a win-win all round.
